Self Portraits

I am exploring the different  way of painting.
My self  is  best model I have, as always.

"Self Portrait"

This drawing of 'me', through the mirror. It is impossible for me to do well with photograph.
So spontaneous and  simply done with fewest strokes possible.
It works!
I got the essence of me here.

"Red Hair II"

"self portrait"

81/2x 11 on sketch book, charcoal & pastel
My self portrait from the mirror. Someone one told me that he could recognized me from my Apr 14's posting of self portrait, but somewhat different from real person, younger and prettier than.... Last night I put the mirror right in front of me and draw this. Trying to show my drooping chin line with 'no fun' expression.
And I will show this one to my friend to see how he thinks.
BTW, I color my hair red against gray.

"Red Hair I"

"Self Portrait "

20x 15, acrylics, on Illustration board

I am taking E course, "Draw and paint what you Love - Spring 2014".
Last week was Week 1: Mark Making. I did my self portrait for the Mark-making practice. I found it lot easier to approach the painting by thinking "I am JUST making various marks". It frees me and more fun.

"Self Portrait "

"The drawing of myself"
I did this drawing from the memory.
I still have vivid memory of myself from the last few self portraits I did at the beginning of this year.

My Recent Self Portraits

Dec. 2013
16x20, acrylic on canvas,
Mixed Media

I love to paint spontaneously with large brushes.
It frees me.
Acrylic is so versatile, carefree medium.
Loving it!
