I made a composition rather than just a portrait.

"Self Portrait"

This drawing of 'me', through the mirror. It is impossible for me to do well with photograph.
So spontaneous and  simply done with fewest strokes possible.
It works!
I got the essence of me here.

I love the depth with layered effects charcoal is creating. It give haunting beauty.

"Blind Drawings"

These are drawings done without looking what you are drawing.
Much more expressive than usual way of drawing. If it is not blind drawing, this line quality won't happen.

"Hye" with a headache, this morning:
I  am not a pretty woman here! I woke up with a headache.
Maybe it shows thru the drawing!?

"Red Hair II"

"self portrait"

81/2x 11 on sketch book, charcoal & pastel
My self portrait from the mirror. Someone one told me that he could recognized me from my Apr 14's posting of self portrait, but somewhat different from real person, younger and prettier than.... Last night I put the mirror right in front of me and draw this. Trying to show my drooping chin line with 'no fun' expression.
And I will show this one to my friend to see how he thinks.
BTW, I color my hair red against gray.

Double Figure Compositions

23" x 32", charcoal on paper

These are 10 to 15 min. each quick studies.
When I draw fast, I could get into only the essence. It is very much intuitive and spontaneous process.
I have enjoyed these two figures composition.
During my Art Center time, I had one great experience creating two figure sculpture using wax through Harry Carmean's drawing class.
I remembered well how much I enjoyed it that time also.
In the future, when I have more time to get into my own work, definitely I am going to explore more multi-figure composition.

"Hannah "

23"x32",nude study, ink on paper
I met Hannah at Candid Art tudio, London, so close from my flat.
I feel home at the art studio where I talk with the artists and models.
Most models are artist themselves. Hannah has bright orange color hair and she is a set design major art student.

Brandt

18"x24" charcoal on paper

I haven't seen Brandt for a while since I left Disney Feature animation studio, which was the beginning of 2002. He told me that he went to Seattle to work for a couple of years. He used have a long hair, posing for Tarzan. He is such a handsome, delightful model. When you do the study on the head, you really could tell what good model is. This was 3 hour long pose. After every 20 min break, he was coming back with exact same pose and same glance. Wow!!
